Biography
Jenna graduated from Bangor University with a First-class BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and was awarded the School of History, Law and Social Sciences Dissertation Prize for her third-year research. She then completed an MA in Criminology and Social Policy in Liverpool John Moores University, graduating with a distinction. Her MA research focused on multiagency working and its function to support victims of county lines exploitation, with a focus on the role of education professionals in the early intervention and identification of exploitation. Following her MA, Jenna worked as a Caseworker with victims of county lines exploitation in the third sector, gaining first-hand experience of working in the multiagency team she previously researched.
Jenna joined the school of Law and Social Justice as a Graduate Teaching Fellow and PhD researcher in October 2022.
Jenna teaches on Criminology and Sociology modules across first and second year, and she is also a Writing@Liverpool tutor.
Research
Jenna’s research seeks to build upon her MA research on multiagency working to support victims of county lines. Her research aims to analyse the conceptualisation of county lines, how it came to be defined by the National Crime Agency in 2015, and what the political purpose of the term is. Policy on drugs, crime and public health will be analysed using critical discourse analysis and conclusions will be drawn about the political purpose of county lines as a concept. An initial finding that has come from the policy analysis is the recommendation for multiagency working to respond to county lines, interviews and focus groups with multiagency practitioners will be undertaken to understand how the term county lines is operationalised, and to identify opportunities and challenges that are present in multiagency working.
