Dr David Higgins
BA, MBA, PCPD, MCMI, PhD, FHEA

Teaching

David's teaching philosophy adopts a social constructionist view, recognising that the learning processes should rely and be focused, on collective interactions and the establishment of learning communities of practice. The pedagogical approach which he adopts is heavily underpinned through the embodiment of the principles of critique, learning through action and reflexivity as a means of exploring learning experience and existing knowledge. This perspective is enacted through collaborative and expressive modes of pedagogical practice - the use of art, music, improvised theatre, visualisation exercises, story-telling and yoga-based meditation in his teaching practice. David adopts a practitioner-oriented, insider-focused approach. David's teaching approach seeks to foster an “action /reflection” dynamic, which involves provoking experimentation both at a practical level and at the level of theoretical analysis.
