Collecting your Student BRP

Check your visa confirmation letter or log into your visa application account online to see where you must collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) from and what date it will be ready.

You can collect your BRP yourself at a time that is convenient to you, but should aim to collect it as soon as possible after arrival in the UK. You will need your BRP to complete registration at the University and for things such as opening a bank account.

Please note: some students receive a digital status rather than a physical BRP card to prove their immigration permission. Your visa confirmation letter should explain if you have a digital status.

Collecting your BRP if you are under 18 years old

If you are in the UK with your parents you should use the Alternative Collection Location (ACL) code listed below under 'Collecting from the University of Liverpool'.

If you do not use this code then you must collect your BRP from your local post office and you must have your parents with you to collect it.

If your parents are not in the UK with you then you should nominate a responsible adult / guardian to collect this for you. You can nominate a responsible adult by clicking here

If you have any questions about collecting your BRP and you are under 18 years old please email u18enq@liverpool.ac.uk.

Collecting from the University

When applying for a Student Visa you should select to collect your BRP from an 'Alternative Collection Location'. You will then be asked to enter a code. You should enter code '2HE489'. This means that your BRP will be sent directly to the University of Liverpool.

You will receive further information in September 2024 on how to collect your BRP from the University when you arrive in Liverpool. You will receive an email asking you to book an appointment to collect your BRP from the University as part of your registration before or during Welcome Week (13th September 2024 onwards).

Collecting from a local post office

Anyone who does not wish to collect their BRP from the University can collect their BRP at a local Post Office which they choose when making the visa application online. The nearest participating Post Office will be assigned to you when you apply for your visa based on your residential address postcode. The Post Office details will be stated on the decision letter you receive when you are issued with your 90-day vignette.

When collecting your BRP take your passport, with stamped travel vignette and your visa confirmation letter with you. You will also be asked for your address so please have your full address with you and ideally write it on your visa confirmation letter. Your visa confirmation letter will explain which post office to collect your BRP from or if it does not and you can't remember where you chose please log into your visa application account on www.gov.uk to find the details.

If you do not have your visa confirmation letter or cannot log into your account online you may be able to collect it from one of the following Post Offices as these are the most commonly used ones by University of Liverpool students.

UPDATE Central Village Post Office has relocated to 39 Dawson Way, St Johns Shopping Centre, Liverpool L1, 1LH. Your BRP collection letter may state the old address but please ignore that and visit the post office in St Johns Shopping Centre.
