Members coach trips

We are offering a number of organised coach trips exclusively to our members. The places are usually limited to 1 coach (approx, 40-45 seats) and each member can bring a guest (double memberships can bring 2 guests). Our 2024 programme is now finished, but our new programme details will be available February/March 2025 here and in the Gentian magazine. Trentham Gardens, Stoke-on-Trent

Trentham is a unique place with 725 acres offering the natural beauty of ancient woodland, as well as award-winning Gardens by designers such as Piet Oudolf and Tom Stuart-Smith.  There’s also an outdoor shopping village offering a mix of independent and nationally renowned high street names, this venue offers something for everyone!

Bodnant Garden, Conwy

This National Trust garden offers “intimate corners, sweeping lawns, grand terraces and verdant woodland”.  It was the creation of the McLaren family over 150 years ago and sits in Eryri (Snowdonia), enjoying the stunning backdrop of the Carneddau mountains.  The colour and scent at this time in the garden should be “a delight for the senses”.

National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire

This is a special 150 acre site to visit, the Arboretum describes itself as “an evolving, maturing woodland landscape featuring 25,000 trees and a large collection of over 400 memorials…a living, growing tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country.”  With Memorials, the woodland landscape and Millenium Chapel, there is plenty of beauty and tranquillity to enjoy here.

Quarry Bank Mill, Wilmslow

We have planned this trip so that Members will be able to enjoy a “place of stark contrast, where the power of the Industrial Revolution sits alongside the beauty of picturesque gardens and lush countryside”.  We will get to find out what it was like to work in a cotton mill, as well as visit Quarry Bank House, the home of the Greg family, founders of Quarry Bank.  Also on offer, are the “stunning picturesque gardens that rise up the banks of the river valley, offering stunning views and spectacular changes through the seasons”, we will also take a guided tour of the Apprentice House. 
Styal village is also close by.
