Date: Wednesday 6 November 2024
Time: 12-1.30pm
Place: Marketing Suite, Management School
Open to: Staff and doctoral students
Speaker: Dr Aparna Venugopal - Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE)
Title: A case for distinct business model value and impact framing understandings from a study on Indian sanitation entrepreneurs
Speaker: Dr Manuel Ramirez - Work, Organisation and Management (WOM)
Title: Imagine a tree: The interplay of climate imaginaries at the U.N. Climate Change Conference of the Parties
In this seminar, Dr Aparna Venugopal (SIBE) discusses how business model value (BMV) is framed to impress beneficiaries, while impact is framed around broader socio-economic benefits.
Her research on enterprises across 14 Indian states reveals how BMV and impact framings interact, emphasising the role of reference point othering.
Dr Manuel Ramirez (WOM) examines why greenhouse emissions continue to rise despite climate action.
Based on his study of COP26, he argues that humanity's dominant climate imaginaries - the fundamental significations that drive climate action - remain unchanged, influencing climate inaction and varying engagement with different imaginaries.
