Alumna wins prestigious award at House of Lords

Congratulations on your recent “Leader of the Year - World’s Leading Leader 2024” award at the WCRCINT Global Business Conclave and the House of Lords Awards. An achievement you must be incredibly proud of! How was the experience?

I feel highly honoured to be recognised at the prestigious House of Lords in London, among esteemed leaders from around the world. The opulence and grandeur of the House of Lords mesmerised me, and an experience I will cherish with pride for the rest of my life. It was a moment where I reflected on my humble beginnings and felt immense gratitude for all that I have received. This recognition feels like a new beginning, and I am excited for the journey ahead!

This award is in recognition of your commitment to innovation, strategic vision, and learning development, as well as your commitment to being a role model for others in the industry. What do you think makes you a good role model? What are your core beliefs?

I firmly believe that every individual possesses immense potential. It requires consistently challenging our limits, setting higher goals, and achieving them through unwavering dedication. Adversity, to me, presents an opportunity to push further and discover innovative solutions. My journey is a testament to my relentless pursuit of new challenges; monotony is a concept that truly intimidates me. This drive led me to become an entrepreneur, a decision made despite the comfort and financial security of my previous role as a Private Banker. Armed with a deep understanding of Psychology and Management, I was confident in my ability to optimise organisational functionality and marry financial expertise with my innovative ideas. This conviction inspired me to establish STRIVE HIGH Pte. Ltd., and the world warmly welcomed my vision.

A role model should lead by example and effectively communicate their experiences to inspire others for personal growth. I have a proven track record of implementing and practising what I preach during my training and coaching. Challenges present hidden opportunities, and it’s important to push ourselves to find innovative solutions during tough times.

I transformed my company into a market leader in the industry, particularly in online training. With our digital presence, we've expanded into previously unimaginable markets. We now operate in 18 countries across four continents and five different industries!

I believe in positively impacting the lives of every person I touch, and it drives me to continuously identify the behavioural challenges professionals face and strive to find the solutions to overcome them. Belief, perseverance, determination, and hard work pay dividends that are often greater than we anticipate.

My objective is clear: to identify the soft skills-related challenges and the key behavioural skills required for professionals to survive and thrive in the future. My mission involves developing solutions to bridge these gaps and imparting these essential skills to others who are eager to grow and excel.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to entrepreneurs what would they be?

To begin with, I would like to repeat what I repeatedly say: “There are no barriers to dreaming and no limitations to realising the dream if only determination is powered by the right beliefs and actions!”

First, have a clear vision of what success means to you. Second, set both short-term and long-term goals and keep revising them over time. Commit yourself to challenging higher goals. Third, identify the necessary steps and resources to achieve these goals, and then take decisive action to overcome all the challenges.

Here's an acronym to remember these important steps:

S - See the end goal clearly

U - Understand the necessary elements and effort

C - Construct a detailed plan outlining required actions and resources

C - Commit to implementing the plan

E - Evaluate and monitor progress, making adjustments when needed

S - Successfully achieve the established goals.

What are the benefits of engaging a Soft Skills Development Professional like you?

Soft skills are personal attributes, behaviours, and social abilities that enable individuals to effectively interact with others in the workplace and in everyday life. Examples of Soft skills include emotional intelligence, stress management, mental wellbeing, interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution etc. Employers highly value these skills because they contribute to a positive work environment and are often crucial to a team or organisation’s success.

The learning and development industry, especially soft-skills training, will play a critical role in seeing unprecedented growth in the era of exponential change enabled by artificial intelligence (AI). In the years to come, AI will replace routine and repetitive jobs. In contrast, those requiring creativity, emotional intelligence, complex problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are less likely to be fully automated.

We believe that our learning and development solutions will bring the necessary behavioural changes to help professionals overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Over the past decade, and especially in the last five years, we have made significant strategic changes to adapt to the rapidly changing world. These changes include diversification, globalisation and collaboration. We are currently undergoing a massive digital transformation. Our proprietary Learning Management System supports lasting behavioural change and will significantly increase our market penetration, amplifying the impact of our boutique learning and development solutions. We are looking forward to the future, where our AI-powered solutions will expand our reach and assist us in addressing the unique soft skills development needs of our clients.
