ULMS celebrates National Student Survey results

Published on

The National Student Survey (NSS) 2024 results were recently released, and the Management School is celebrating another good set of results for all of our subject areas.

Commissioned annually by the Office for Students (OfS), the NSS invites final year undergraduate students to provide feedback on their experience of the University. There are 27 compulsory questions, the majority of which are split across 7 question themes: (1. Teaching on my course, 2. Learning opportunities, 3. Assessment and feedback, 4. Academic support, 5. Organisation and management, 6. Learning resources and 7. Student voice).

We are pleased to report on the following results for our subject areas:

Accounting: Outperformed the sector benchmarks for all 7 question themes.

  • 1st in the Russell Group for 4/7 question themes and 2nd place for the remaining 3 question themes.
  • Ranked 1st in the Russell Group for 13/27 individual questions.

Economics: Outperformed the sector benchmarks for all 7 question themes.

  • 1st in the Russell Group for 2/7 question themes and 2nd for 4/7 question themes.
  • Ranked 1st in the Russell Group for 9/27 individual questions.

Business studies: Outperformed the sector benchmark for 6/7 question themes.

  • 1st place in the Russell Group for ‘Assessment and Feedback’ and ranked 1st for 4/27 individual questions.
  • Top 3 Russell Group ranking for 4/7 of the question themes.
  • Ranked 1st in the Russell Group for 2/27 individual questions and 2nd for 4/27 individual questions.

Marketing: Outperformed the sector benchmarks for all 7 question themes.

We caught up with Nick Drape, Deputy Associate Dean, Undergraduate, who noted “It is great to see another very good set of results for ULMS. It is also pleasing to see that all our subject areas are ranked in the top 2 of the Russell Group for the ‘Assessment and Feedback’ question theme, which is a fantastic achievement, given how notoriously difficult it is to score highly in this area.”
