We are one of the leading centres for Hispanic Studies in the UK and will help you to understand aspects of the society and culture of Spain and of the Spanish-speaking world.

As one of the world’s most important languages in terms of speaker numbers and global politics extending into the USA, having fluency in Spanish opens up dynamic and fast-changing parts of the world outside Europe. This includes North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. 

Study Spanish as part of Hispanic Studies

You will study Spanish as part of Hispanic Studies, rather than as a stand-alone course. Hispanic studies is a diverse course covering the languages, literatures, cultures and histories of Spain, Portugal and Latin America. You can take Spanish Language with us from either Beginners' or Advanced Level in Year 1.

• Hispanic Studies BA

You can also combine Spanish language as a Minor (25%), Joint (50%) or Major (75%) subject with many other subject areas on our combined degrees undergraduate programme.
