'Cinema, Memory and Wellbeing' Project Success in REF2021

Professor Lisa Shaw’s Cinema, Memory and Wellbeing’ project uses carefully curated short clips from diverse films, like musical comedies from the 1940s and 1950s and archive footage of local areas and historic events, to bring about significant emotional wellbeing benefits for the older population and people living with dementia in Brazil and the Northwest of England. The project has produced a toolkit for carers, used in NHS dementia wards as well as nursing homes and day centres in the UK and Brazil, that provides support for exploiting the full potential of this film material to also boost carer resilience and improve the quality of care.
