The University of Liverpool’s Professor Sally Sheard has recorded a provocative twenty part series for BBC Radio 4 featuring key moments in the NHS’s history. Beginning on 18 June, it covers the poor healthcare available before the NHS, its difficult birth in 1948, and key achievements and challenges.

Institute of Irish Studies Launches Event Competition
The University of Liverpool’s Institute of Irish Studies has launched a new competition, inviting its PhD candidates to plan and host a public engagement / knowledge exchange / research event, to be held in the next academic year, with two prizes of £3,000 each.

PhD Student Shines Bright on Light Night
Creative Writing PhD student (also Law graduate of Liverpool University), Pauline Rowe, recipient of a university public engagement award in 2017 performed at Open Eye Gallery on Light Night, 18th May, as part of an exhibition of new work developed with photographer AJ Wilkinson. This collaboration was enabled by Open Eye Gallery and the University of Liverpool.

Your eyebrows and how your groom them are shaped by many stories, attitudes, and changing tastes.\n\nThese stories are what Researchers at the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), Edge Hill University and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) aimed to investigate at their Brews & Brows event at FACT in Liverpool in April.
