A unique opportunity to discover the history and development of some of Liverpool's most historically significant brands, manufacturers, institutions, cultural exports and businesses, this fascinating study day will include a discussion of the Herculaneum Pottery; Liverpool Royal Institution, Hornby toys, Strowger telephonics and electricals, Tate & Lyle, Bibby Oils, Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs, Merseybeat and much, much more besides. Join us for an appreciation of all things Liverpool made.

Part 1. Herculaneum and other potteries / The Liverpool Royal Institution and Botanic Gardens
Part 2. Shipping lines - Cunard, White Star, Alfred Holt etc. / Manufacturers: Tate & Lyle, Hartley's, Bibby Oils, Jacobs, Strowger
Part 3. Toys - Hornby, Dinky / Football - Everton and Liverpool FC
Part 4. Merseybeat - The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers etc.

Course Lecturer: Dr Lee Kendall 

Dr. Lee R. Kendall was born in Liverpool in 1974 and earned his BA (Hons) in History of Art at University of Leicester in 1997 before going on to complete a PhD in the same subject at Liverpool John Moores University in 2006. An independent art historian with a particular interest in all things Liverpool related, his publications include “Being for the Benefit of… Beatles Art in Liverpool” (2012). He has been part of the front of house team at Tate Gallery, Liverpool since 2009 and has lectured for the University of Liverpool's CE Department since 2019.
