2023-24 was one of the most successful years to date for the Employer Connections Team at the University of Liverpool.

With over 300 individual employers and more than 6500 students engaged in both campus-wide and targeted faculty activities, the team have worked tirelessly to cultivate new connections, as well as build upon the great relationships we’ve held for many years.

A couple of highlights from 2023-24 include hosting the largest LivUni Careers Fair ever – with over 100 employers on campus – and successfully supporting more than 50 activities in faculty.

Jade, Employer Connections Officer: ‘It was absolutely brilliant to welcome so many employers to campus for just one day at our Careers Fair and support our students in exploring their options for the future. The fact that so many employers wanted to join us for the fair is testament to the hard work put in by the team over the years to build strong relationships!’

Jane, Employer Connections Consultant: ‘In the academic year 2023-24, there was a growing trend of industry partners being requested to become involved within the curriculum. This approach provides a great opportunity for employers to engage with students in more focused and meaningful ways. The Employer Connections Team's network of employer partners enables us to make those connections across all three of our faculties through a large number of focused events and activities.’

The landscape of recruitment is ever evolving, with the competition for talent becoming increasingly fierce. However, our purpose as the Employer Connections Team ultimately remains the same: to source, showcase, and facilitate the very opportunities for our students and graduates. I’m sure we are preaching to the converted when we say that investing in future talent is a sure-fire way to foster innovation and futureproof success within your business. We want to work with you to ensure our collaborations are innovative, impactful, and meaningful to both employer and prospective employee.

This year, we will continue to nurture our connections into mutually beneficial partnerships between the university and employers. We are incredibly proud of the dynamic and diverse community of employers we’ve built over many years and are relishing the opportunity to bring new employers from emerging sectors onto campus to meet our amazing students and graduates in 2024-25.

Our aim is simple: to ensure talent meets opportunity. That means providing students with a variety of insightful and meaningful experiences to help them make an informed decision about their career.
